It has been almost a year since I have posted on my blog. The past 10 months had been busy with working, preparing to go back to school, and just life in general. So here are few updates on my life.
I decided to return to East Carolina University to finish my bachelor's degree, and get away from this area. No offense, but there is more to the world and me than just Greenville and Robersonville. Also, I have decided to take a leave of absence from my job. I loved my job, however, I needed to solely focus on school work. It is very weird I must say, not getting up and getting dressed and heading to my fancy job, as some would say. It is cool though. Right now my primary focus is to find an internship that focuses on bespoke menswear. It has been a struggle trying to find one, but I am certainly glad that things are starting to look up for me.
I now have time to blog and talk about life, menswear, and me! Haha. I feel as if I am forgetting some really important details. Let me sit and think for a bit. Give me one second.
I am 24 now, one year from 25. That is terrifying, being that I remember as if it was yesterday, turning 18 and getting into some 18th birthday shenanigans with my cousin.
Let's see, hmmm. Oh yes! I have successfully transitioned my wardrobe to a 90 percent classic wardrobe. I got rid of a lot of trendy and vintage pieces and added more traditional and classic pieces. This past fall I was really infatuated with half zip sweaters. Mainly pairing them blazers and sport coats. If I decided to wear that to work, usually I would wear some piece of neckwear with it. I prefer to not wear any type of tie or bowtie with it. Just a personal thing I guess. I purchased an applejack, or some may know it as a gatsby cap. Greatest decision of my life. Though I did not have as many opportunities to wear it as I wanted, it added an extra kick to the accessory department during the winter months.
The upcoming goals for my wardrobe are to purchase my first bespoke suit. I am thinking maybe a bright navy pinstripe suit, with a peak lapel, side vent, fully canvased, working buttonholes, and an impeccable fit. Also, it is a necessity for me to get a good gospel black suit. haha. Well, just a black suit. I have the bells and whistles in my head, but I won't share on here. Additionally, I would like to add a camel colored top coat, and more hats, hats, hats. I am convinced that I have a suit, hat, and shoe fetish. Other than that, I think I am set on everything else in my wardrobe other than the other usual fixings. You know shirts, ties, cuff links, lapel pins, socks, and watches.
In closing, lastly, in conclusion, bye Felicia, or whatever people use these days to close out blogs, please stay tuned as I make an attempt to be consistent with this blog. I am trying guys, just bear with me! More exciting updates, tips, photos, and experiences are soon to come.
Oh, and let me add this! There has been so much racial tension, and conflict in the last few months. I want to salute all my gentlemen, but I especially want to salute my black men and gentlemen out there. Shout out to all us that are getting an education, working, raising a family, not asking anyone for anything, treating spouses right, being successful, owning businesses, beating the stereotypes, dressing to the nines, and just doing what we need to do! I salute you! You all are the greatest. We are kings. Nothing less.
